Our Woven Kin; Online Womb Wrap Making Journey
Womb Wrap Weaving: A Four-Part Online Journey
Cloth as Kin • Embodiment as rebellion • Ancestral Craft
Warp and weft.
We spin dreams into form,
anchor life into thread,
and create landscapes of beauty, listening, and belonging .
Together, we weave spirals of hope—
textiles that become places of warmth, healing, and sanctuary.
Cloth that calls us Home.
That calls us Here.
That calls us Now.
After seven years apprenticed to the Rigid Heddle Loom, and four years guiding others in the creation of Womb Wraps, I’m honoured to offer this four-part online series.
This is a journey into the ritual and rhythm of warping and weaving—a sacred container where cloth becomes story, sanctuary, and soul expression.
Whether you are a seasoned weaver or touching thread for the first time, this work is open to all—across life stages, wombed or not, menstruating or post-menopausal. You are welcome in this circle.
What We’ll Explore;
This offering braids together practical skill and symbolic meaning, guiding you to cultivate a personal, embodied relationship with the loom, the lower cauldron, and the sacred act of making.
Sessions include:
- Grounding, embodiment & visualisation practices
- Ceremonial warping & thread magic
- Symbolism in cloth and ritual craft
- Storytelling, poetry & spinning lore
- Guidance for weaving with the Rigid Heddle Loom
- Introduction to drop spindle spinning
- The four seasons of birthing cloth
- Suggestions for natural and medicinal dye techniques
- Sharing circle & reflection space
We meet in a rhythm that supports integration, creativity, and spaciousness—with enough time between sessions for the threads to settle and the body to listen.
Materials You Will Need
- A Rigid Heddle Loom (any size)
- A Drop Spindle
- Yarn for warping and weaving
- Fibre for spinning
- Warping tools (typically included in an Ashford Rigid Heddle Kit)
While I warmly encourage the ease and versatility of a rigid heddle loom, you are welcome with whatever weaving tools you have. We can adapt your process gracefully.
Small hand-woven panels can be stitched together with intention to form a cohesive womb belt—your cloth will still carry the magic of presence, time, and breath. If you need support sourcing materials, please reach out.
Session Details;
All sessions are held live via Zoom and will be recorded for those unable to attend in real time.
A welcome email and preparation details will be sent upon registration.
Session One: Ritual Warping
🜂 Tuesday 3rd February • 4:00–5:30pm GMT
Held at Imbolc, this opening session honours womb, root, and the returning spark of light.
We:
- Open our circle and ground into the body
- Explore the symbolic role of warp as intention, structure, and spine
- Witness a ceremonial warping demonstration
- Learn to prepare warp with clarity, rhythm, and spacious breath
- Begin establishing a relationship with the loom as an ally, altar, and teacher
This is a gentle, spacious initiation: a place to ask questions, meet your materials slowly, and begin the journey of anchoring your own warp in the days that follow.
Session Two: Spinning Spells
🜄 Tuesday 10th February • 4:00–5:15pm GMT
Here we enter the watery, fluid realm of fibre.
We explore:
- The alchemy of twist and how yarn carries energy, prayer, and memory
- Drop spindle technique for beginners and experienced spinners
- How to prepare fleece and roving
- Folklore, spinning stories, and ancestral traditions
- Plant and herbal dye energetics: colour as medicine
This session invites slowness, listening, and the experience of your hands learning directly from the fibre.
Session Three: Weaving the Cloth
🜁 Tuesday 17th February • 4:00–5:15pm GMT
We meet the loom with weft—breath, story, colour, and presence.
Together we explore:
- Beginning your weave with intention
- Selvedges, rhythm, and finding your natural weaving pace
- How to handle tension challenges with care
- Symbolic motifs, pattern, and meaning in cloth
- The movement between structure (warp) and flow (weft) as a mirror of inner process
This is a hands-on, deeply supported weaving practice session with space for questions and real-time guidance.
Session Four: Birthing the Cloth
🜃 Tuesday 24th February • 4:00–5:30pm GMT
Our final gathering honours completion, embodiment, and the emergence of your Womb Wrap.
We:
- Learn to finish, secure, and release your cloth from the loom
- Explore trimming, tying, washing, and fulling
- Reflect on what has been woven inside you as much as on the loom
- Enter a closing ritual to seal the work
- Share stories, insights, and what your cloth wishes to teach you next
This is a celebration—of your devotion, your consistency, and the threads that now carry your touch.
